Wedding Planning

March 1, 2017

One of the topics we get asked about most often during consults: Wedding Coordinators vs Planners vs Designers.

It’s a very valid question on a topic that can be confusing if you’re not used to the wedding-industry lingo. So today, we’re tackling the topic head on!

Day Of (or Month Of) Coordinators:

– Communication begins typically beings between eight to four weeks prior to the wedding day.

– Coordinators will meet with you to get caught up on all of the plans you have made and vendors you have secured.

– Creates a timeline, manages the logistics of the wedding day, and handles any “day of” issues that might come up.

– Coordinators are usually very limited in services compared to a full service planner.

Planners:

– A planner’s role is to be a bride’s advocate every step of the way throughout the planning process.wedding planner with bride

– Usually hired soon after engagement, at the beginning of the planning process.

– Responsible for a large variety of things – overseeing logistics, assisting with vendor selection, etiquetteassistance, table design, wedding weekend timeline, and so, so much more

– On the wedding day, they are responsible for managing all involved vendors, distributing final payments and gratuities on your behalf, taking care of any problems that arise, and being the go-to person for any questions that day. A planner is also there to ensure you and your bridal party and family have everything they need to make sure your day is perfectly flawless.

– A planner is a big player in making your day come together flawlessly. They should provide you with service that feels undeniably like the most valuable investment you made for your wedding day.

Stylists and Designers:

– Stylists are essentially responsible for focusing on the aesthetics of your day – details like tablescapes and linens, bouquets and centerpieces, favor ideas, stationery suites, decor and lighting – basically everything that sets the overall tone and ambiance of your wedding day.

– Services such as floral design are sometimes included in a designer’s service.

– Designers should ultimately be able to guide you into making decisions so that everything fits together cohesively.

– This service is often included in the full service package of planners.
